Currently there are 22 Rocket In-Vessel composters in Scotland . These are located at:

   - Community Initiatives: 12 - A500 Edinburgh Backgreens (8),                    GRAB remote island communities A700 (3) (Bute, Islay & Tiree),         Forres A700,

   - Local Authority 1 - A900 Western Isles Council,          

    - National Parks/Outdoor Education Centre 1 A700                          Lochgoilhead (Loch Lomond & Trossachs Nat. Park),

    - Hotels 2- A700 Glengorm Castle, Mull, A500 Crieff Tower Hot,

   - Canteens 1 - A700 St. Andrews University,

   - Research & Development 5 - Unis.  - A500 Abertay, Glasgow,

                                                 - Industry A700 (3) Aberdeen.

SOS eagerly await the outcome of the recent, and most welcome, SEPA consultation on “Better Waste Regulation. This is particularly so with respect to:

      - the ability of small-scale composting sites to treat all catering waste under an              exemption,

      - a liberation for such sites from the exigencies of PAS 100 when selling products back into             the local community,

      - the acceptance of non-PAS 100 products for restricted use, and

      - a merging of the Waste Management Licensing and Animal By-Product compliance and                     monitoring inspection requirements .
