Rocket® In-Vessel Composter
wp483b5e1a.png

The Rocket® is a fully-enclosed, intensive composting unit for community- to industrial-scale composting offering a practical means to recycle noxious organic residues. It hygienically converts putrescible waste into pasteurised, reusable, nutritious compost. It has been designed to suit properties producing 5 - 500kg of organic waste/day. Contents of the Rocket® are turned automatically to ensure a microbe-friendly environment within the vessel. Excess leachate is drained to a sump and exhaust air is vented though a biofilter. Pasteurisation is achieved in 9 – 14 days, producing a dry, odourless composted product. Automatic temperature recording and tailor-made HACCP plans ensure compliance with ABP Regulations. For increased capacity systems may include a macerating-dewatering pre-treatment for food residuals—modestly increased capital costs are offset by a tripling of the food residuals that can be processed. Thus the A500 can treat  from 35—675, the A700  capacity is increased from 525—1575, the A900 from 1310—4000 and the A1200 from 3,000—10,000kg food waste  (FW)/week. . Running costs are extremely low (usually 0.27 –1.84p/kg) yielding payback times, generally less than 4 years (for machine lifespan >15-years). Savings of >70% of landfill costs (if food residuals were not to be banned from landfill) can be achieved (calculated using current landfill costs (disposal and tax) of £74 ) over the lifetime of the Rocket. Appropriately-sized shredders, sieves and other accessories also supplied.

The combination of Rocket composters with BioBag® separation/collection systems is an effective, simple solution — waste conveniently collected in the BioBag® is transferred to the Rocket® for composting. BioBag® certified compostable, are themselves biodegraded to yield compost products.

Rocket systems are particularly suited to community initiatives, remote locations (islands, National Parks), catering outlets, institutions (university campuses, prisons, hospitals, schools etc.) and food processing companies.
